ALTAY Main Battle Tank Enters Serial Production with MKE-Made Indigenous Weaponry
Turkey’s pride, the ALTAY Main Battle Tank, is set to commence production at its soon-to-be-opened serial manufacturing facility. This flagship defense project incorporates locally developed weapon systems by the Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE), boosting the tank’s firepower and operational effectiveness.
With the launch of serial production, the ALTAY tank fleet will rapidly expand, providing the Turkish Armed Forces with a modern and domestically powered land defense system. The integration of MKE-designed gun and ammunition systems will enhance the tank’s battlefield performance significantly.
The ALTAY project is a key pillar in Turkey’s strategic efforts to develop its defense industry. Utilizing indigenous technologies and manufacturing infrastructure reduces foreign dependency and strengthens national defense capabilities.
Developed in line with the operational needs of the Turkish Armed Forces, the ALTAY tank features a contemporary design and high ammunition capacity, positioning it as a strategic asset in the region. The serial production supported by MKE, with its indigenous weapon systems, aims to deliver a world-class military vehicle.
Supported by the Presidency of Defense Industries and related institutions, the ALTAY production initiative reinforces Turkey’s strategic autonomy and significantly elevates its defense capacity by emphasizing national technology and indigenous manufacturing.
