ASELSAN TUFAN and STM YAKTU Boost Turkish Navy Capabilities with First Orders

Leading players in Turkey’s defense industry, ASELSAN and Savunma Teknolojileri Mühendislik ve Ticaret A.Ş. (STM), continue to strengthen the Turkish Naval Forces by introducing their innovative TUFAN and YAKTU systems. Recognized for superior speed and range capabilities, both systems have recently been officially ordered by the Turkish Navy, marking a significant step in modernizing maritime defense.

The ASELSAN-developed TUFAN system offers fast deployment and extended operational range, enhancing both defense and offensive capacities in naval engagements. Meanwhile, STM’s YAKTU project addresses critical combat support and reconnaissance demands, providing the navy with improved situational awareness and operational support. Initial shipments of these systems have already commenced to fulfill operational requirements.

Incorporation of TUFAN and YAKTU signifies Turkey’s progress toward self-reliance in advanced defense technologies and underscores the improving capabilities of its naval forces. This collaboration between ASELSAN and STM is pivotal in reducing dependence on foreign technologies while enhancing Turkey’s competitive edge in the global defense arena.

Equipped with these cutting-edge systems, the Turkish Navy is set to play a crucial role in ensuring regional maritime security and maintaining deterrence. Supported by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), production and delivery timelines for these projects are expected to accelerate in the near future.
