Bayraktar TB2 UAV Equipped with Advanced IR-Guided Missile Defense System

The Bayraktar TB2, a flagship unmanned aerial vehicle from Turkey’s defense industry, has received a significant upgrade. This new enhancement equips the vehicle with an advanced self-protection system designed to counter infrared (IR)-guided missile threats.

Featuring cutting-edge technology, the system improves the UAV’s ability to jam, deceive, and intercept incoming enemy missiles targeting the vehicle’s IR sensors. This advancement increases the operational safety and battlefield survivability of the TB2 during various missions.

Developed by Baykar, one of Turkey’s premier UAV manufacturers, this new defensive capability builds upon the platform’s existing optimized features. With the Turkish Armed Forces increasingly relying on the TB2 for reconnaissance and combat roles, such technological improvements are elevating the UAV’s strategic importance.

According to Baykar officials, integration of the self-protection system has been successfully completed, and ongoing testing confirms the system’s effectiveness against IR-guided missile threats. This technology offers enhanced resistance to advanced air defense systems aiming to neutralize UAVs.

This development underscores Turkey’s growing independence in defense technology, strengthening its position in the global market and boosting export potential with cutting-edge UAV solutions.
