Critical Supply Agreement Signed Between SSB and TUSAŞ for KAAN Fighter Jet
In a significant development for Turkey’s indigenous defense aviation, the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) have signed a critical supply contract for the KAAN project, the National Combat Aircraft designed and developed in Turkey. This agreement marks a pivotal step in accelerating the development and production efforts of the KAAN fighter jet.
KAAN represents a cornerstone in Turkey’s efforts to modernize its air force with homegrown technology, aiming to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers and enhance strategic autonomy. Under the terms of the contract, TUSAŞ will streamline procurement and supply chain processes to ensure timely and efficient delivery of components and subsystems essential for the aircraft’s production.
The signing ceremony was attended by SSB President Haluk Görgün and TUSAŞ CEO Mehmet Demircioğlu, underscoring the importance of this collaboration in Turkey’s defense industrial base. The deal reinforces Turkey’s commitment to developing advanced, indigenous military technology and expanding its footprint in the global defense market.
By enhancing local production and technological capabilities through such agreements, Turkey aims to not only equip its armed forces with cutting-edge equipment but also to boost defense exports. The KAAN project is expected to play a major role in asserting Turkey’s presence as a key player in aerospace and defense innovation.
This partnership between SSB and TUSAŞ aligns with Turkey’s broader strategy of achieving self-sufficiency in defense technologies and contributing to national security and economic growth through indigenous military-industrial development.
