GÖKBEY Helicopter Receives Type Certification; First Deliveries Expected in July
The GÖKBEY utility helicopter, a flagship project of Turkey’s defense industry developed by TUSAŞ, has successfully obtained type certification. This certification confirms the helicopter’s compliance with international aviation standards and operational readiness, paving the way for serial production and commercial deliveries.
Type certification is a critical aviation approval indicating that an aircraft is authorized for civilian or military use. Achieving this milestone demonstrates the maturity and quality of the GÖKBEY program. Designed for a variety of missions, the helicopter aims to serve the Turkish Armed Forces and other users with versatile operational capabilities.
According to officials, the initial batch of GÖKBEY helicopters is slated for delivery in July. This marks a significant advance in enhancing Turkey’s domestic production capacity, reducing foreign dependence in aerospace and defense, and strengthening national technological sovereignty.
Equipped with advanced avionics, powerful engines, and flexible mission adaptability, the GÖKBEY helicopter represents a critical step toward Türkiye’s goal of aerospace autonomy. Serial production is planned to follow closely, with expectations for broader deployment across different operational platforms.
Pilot training and preparation are progressing concurrently, supported by HAVELSAN’s GÖKSİM simulator designed to ensure pilots are fully trained to operate the GÖKBEY efficiently.
