Selçuk Özdağ Criticizes BMC and Altay Tank Projects, Calls for Transparency

Selçuk Özdağ, Deputy Chairman of the Zafer Party, sharply criticized the government’s management of the BMC and Altay tank projects, highlighting concerns over public resource utilization.

According to Özdağ, “Public funds are not for stories. Defense projects like BMC and the Altay tank must be managed seriously and transparently. Otherwise, resources are wasted.” He pointed out that delays and cost overruns in these projects are closely monitored by the public and underscored the need for accountability.

He emphasized the importance of using national funds for technological advancement and domestic defense industry gains, while stating that the process must be carried out with transparency and accountability. Furthermore, Özdağ drew attention to the critical need to address planning and management weaknesses within defense programs for Turkey’s security and strategic goals.

Özdağ called for a detailed review of how BMC uses public funds and demanded concrete steps regarding the Altay tank’s delivery timeline. He stressed that efficiently and properly managing resources should be a top priority as Turkey seeks to meet its defense needs.

These remarks reflect growing public scrutiny and questions about the outcomes of the investments being made in Turkey’s national defense industry. Özdağ’s statements increase calls for enhanced performance monitoring and transparency from the Presidency of Defense Industries and relevant agencies.
