SSB Head Görgün Sets Ambitious $11B Export Target and Top 10 Goal

Haluk Görgün, President of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), outlined Turkey’s strategic ambitions to increase its defense sector exports to 11 billion USD while aiming to place the country among the top 10 global exporters in this field. He emphasized accelerating development of indigenous defense technologies and strengthening research & development and international partnerships as key to achieving these goals.

Highlighting recent achievements in Turkey’s defense industry, Görgün stated that sustainable growth strategies are in place to boost exports and domestic production tailored to the Turkish Armed Forces’ needs. Diversifying export markets and upgrading technology standards remain essential priorities.

Investments in next-generation weapon systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, electronic warfare technologies, and advanced software solutions will be intensified to increase Turkey’s competitive edge worldwide. Protecting the originality of national technologies while enhancing global market presence are central to this vision.

Görgün also pointed to the economic benefits of rising defense exports, including expanding employment opportunities for engineers and technicians. The SSB commits to sustaining progress and reinforcing the national technology initiative to generate both strategic and economic gains for Turkey.
