Turkey to Showcase Indigenous Weapon System for National Combat Aircraft KAAN

The National Combat Aircraft KAAN, a flagship project of Turkey’s aerospace and defense industry, is being equipped with a completely domestically produced weapon system. Led by TÜBİTAK and TUSAŞ, the initiative aims to enhance the operational capabilities of KAAN with a weapon system designed and manufactured entirely within Turkey.

This new weapon platform emphasizes integration and operational efficiency, offering high firing rates and precision strike capabilities. Equipped with cutting-edge radar and sensor technologies, the system aligns with the modern requirements of fifth-generation fighter jets.

Officials emphasize the strategic importance of the KAAN project not only for Turkey’s defense autonomy but also for regional security dynamics. The development of indigenous weapon systems reduces reliance on foreign suppliers and strengthens technological sovereignty.

Designed as a versatile platform, KAAN demonstrates advanced air-to-air and air-to-ground combat abilities. It is expected to significantly reinforce Turkey’s strategic defense power as the project advances.

The introduction of the indigenous weapon system is aimed at enhancing combat capabilities, bolstering national production, and minimizing dependency on external technologies. As KAAN’s operational readiness improves, Turkey’s competitive edge in aerospace defense is anticipated to rise accordingly.
