Turkey’s First Indigenous Destroyer TCG KOCATEPE to Launch in 2027
The Turkish defense industry is poised for a significant milestone with the upcoming launch of the nation’s first indigenous destroyer, TCG KOCATEPE, scheduled for 2027. This crucial project will substantially enhance Turkey’s naval power with modern, homegrown warship technologies.
Led by the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB), the TCG KOCATEPE project integrates national shipbuilding technologies and cutting-edge defense systems. The vessel will feature state-of-the-art radar, sonar, and electronic warfare capabilities designed to meet contemporary maritime security challenges.
Built using domestically sourced technology and materials, the destroyer’s high-level integration of critical systems aims to boost the operational effectiveness of the Turkish Naval Forces. As a versatile platform, it will provide robust defense against aerial and maritime threats while carrying out various mission profiles effectively.
