Turkey’s Indigenous GÖKBEY Helicopter Debuts in EFES-2026 Military Exercise
The GÖKBEY helicopter, a milestone in Turkish defense manufacturing, took to the field for the first time during the EFES-2026 military exercise. Developed with indigenous technology, this national helicopter demonstrated its capabilities across multiple operational scenarios during the event.
EFES-2026 stands as one of NATO’s largest multinational exercises, serving as a strategic platform for Turkey to showcase its defense strength. The maiden field deployment of GÖKBEY underscores the tangible progress achieved through domestic production in the defense sector.
Designed for both military and civil applications, GÖKBEY’s performance in the exercise confirmed its readiness for integration into the Turkish Armed Forces inventory, poised to play an active role in future operations. This development reduces reliance on foreign suppliers and strengthens Turkey’s self-sufficiency in defense technologies.
Experts view GÖKBEY’s participation in EFES-2026 as a critical step towards establishing Turkey as a significant power in the international defense arena. Plans are underway to further enhance this technology and integrate it with other defense platforms in the near future.
