Turkey’s Indigenous HÜRKUŞ and GÖKBEY Set to Join Air Force Inventory in 2024
Turkey continues to strengthen its defense industry through indigenous projects. Developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), the HÜRKUŞ trainer aircraft and GÖKBEY helicopter are set to join the Turkish Air Force inventory in 2024.
HÜRKUŞ is a modern basic training aircraft designed to enhance pilot training efficiency. Its domestic production ensures logistical and maintenance benefits while significantly boosting training capacity within the Turkish Armed Forces.
The GÖKBEY helicopter is a multipurpose and attack-capable platform developed entirely with local engineering and manufacturing. Its deployment will expand the Turkish military’s operational flexibility and aerial mobility markedly.
Coordinated by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), both platforms are being developed with advanced technologies tailored to military requirements. Deliveries to the Air Force are planned to begin this year, reinforcing Turkey’s sovereign defense technology base.
This milestone exemplifies Turkey’s ongoing efforts to diversify indigenous military technologies and enhance national defense autonomy.
