Turkey’s New Indigenous UAV ‘Super Thunder’ Entered into Military Inventory
The Turkish Ministry of National Defense has unveiled the new generation unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) named “Super Thunder,” marking a significant advancement in the country’s indigenous defense capabilities. Equipped with advanced target deception technologies, this UAV demonstrates superior performance in operational environments.
Designed for deployment in modern battlefields, “Super Thunder” features innovative systems for target detection and electronic countermeasures that mislead enemy defense systems, contributing to mission success. Its integration into the inventory is expected to notably enhance the operational capacity of the Turkish Armed Forces.
The Ministry emphasized that the Super Thunder project represents a critical technological milestone within Turkey’s defense industry, developed entirely with domestic resources. Outfitted with state-of-the-art sensors and autonomous operational capabilities, the UAV is tailored especially for intelligence, surveillance, and electronic warfare missions.
The fact that this UAV is designed and produced indigenously aids Turkey’s strategic autonomy by reducing reliance on foreign systems. Moreover, the system’s potential for export elevates Turkey’s presence and competitiveness in the global defense market.
Military officials and defense industry representatives expressed their satisfaction with the UAV’s performance during tests and exercises, underlining that its induction into service will provide vital contributions to the nation’s defense infrastructure.
