Turkey’s New Strategic Front: Establishing the Cyber Warfare Ministry

As cyber threats escalate globally, Turkey is stepping up its national security efforts by planning to establish a dedicated Cyber Warfare Ministry. This new governmental body aims to centralize and enhance the country’s cyber defense capabilities and effectively counter cyberattacks targeting critical infrastructure and national interests.

The rising significance of cyberspace as a domain of conflict requires Turkey to innovate its defense posture. The Cyber Warfare Ministry is envisioned to coordinate cyber intelligence, defense, and offensive operations, working closely with the Turkish Armed Forces and the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB).

Collaborations with indigenous technology leaders such as ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, and BAYKAR will be crucial to develop advanced cyber capabilities and tools. Additionally, integrating international partnerships, particularly within NATO’s cybersecurity frameworks, remains a strategic priority.
